UK, Kent-based Artist, Carole Andrews has been making sculpture for over 20 years.

She manipulates lengths of aluminium mesh using techniques from a variety of sources such as origami, needlework, costume jewellery and macrame. She will coax and sew the aluminium into the desired form then strengthen it with steel and resin to become robust and weatherproof sculpture. Her work reflects a true love of garden plants, while the more abstract pieces are developed from my memories of scuba-diving over coral reefs. In addition, Andrews heavily expands tiny details of plant and sea life to “dominate the viewer on a human scale”, where she will painstakingly take techniques and ideas from Origami and embroidery to recreate fluid organic forms.

The fragile and ethereal quality of her sculpture lends itself perfectly for sitting in both domestic and public gardens, with a broad range of colour finishes allow the work to blend or contrast with the surroundings as desired.
