Surrey Art School - Drawing on the Lawn: Pen & Wash in Summer - Wednesday 17th July 2024
We are delighted to welcome Surrey Art School back to the Sculpture Garden for summer 2024.
Surrey Art School founder Ellie will guide you through the Sculpture Garden on a gentle walk, stopping to observe the surrounding nature within the Sculpture Garden. On your way, you can experiment through new and fun techniques to capture to magic of the surroundings.
Drawing on the Lawn
Wednesday 17th July 2024
Start: 1.30pm
Finish: 5.00pm
In this summer inspired workshop we'll delve into the textures and colours of the garden in full bloom. Spending a gentle afternoon drawing on the lawn, we'll begin by learning some loose sketching techniques in pencil. We'll then refine our drawings in fine-liner, adding dotting, line and shadow work to bring our outline sketches to life. At the end of the workshop we'll bring vibrancy to our drawings, adding a splash of artist quality watercolours to our designs.
We'll provide all the materials you’ll need for this workshop (brushes, paper, drawing board, watercolour paper) and you’ll get a 0.3 and 0.5 black fine-liner and some samples of Daniel Smith Artist Watercolour paint to take away on the day!
The afternoon will be broken into two workshops, with a break for tea, locally roasted coffee and scrumptious homemade cakes midway through (vegan option available).
Guests are welcome to stay util 6pm to explore the Sculpture Garden further - perhaps employing some of the lessons gleaned earlier in the day, or just taking time to relax and unwind in the serene setting.
Please note: the Sculpture Garden is a natural woodland setting, with uneven ground in places.
Come prepared for the Great British Summer! (i.e. waterproofs might be necessary….)
The Sculpture Garden has chairs you may borrow, alternatively please bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on the lawn.
BOOKINGS CLOSE - Monday 15th July 2024.
